Big news for all you Toyota Tacoma fans out there - an all-new Toyota Tacoma TRD lift kit is headed to a dealership near you! This specialized kit won't just give your truck a boost in terms of height - it's also designed to be completely compatible with the Toyota Safety Sense System. Our Clermont Toyota dealership has the scoop below.
What makes this Toyota Tacoma lift kit so special?
A new truck part or accessory is always cool, but what makes this all-new TRD lift kit so amazing is that it's the first of its kind. No other Toyota Tacoma lift kits exist, meaning to bump your truck up in height you'd have to use aftermarket parts or kits. This can void warranties and interfere with existing parts and systems on your car... like the Toyota Safety Sense System. The introduction of this new TRD lift kit does away with that issue entirely.
Here's what we know so far:
- Like we said, this is an official TRD lift kit. This means it's completely compatible with your truck, won't void any warranties you have, and offers an incredible sense of reliability because it's a Toyota product. It's been tested by TRD engineers to ensure in particular that it's compatible with the Toyota Safety Sense System.
- The lift kit provides 2" of height in the front and 1" of height in the back. And not only will you get more height, but you also get improved ground clearance of 1.7", as well as improved approach, departure, and breakover angles. This makes tackling uneven and tough terrain a breeze.
- The kit is composed of Bilstein monotube shocks with digressive valving. Additionally, each shock has TRD red dust boots with graphics that state "tuned by TRD" on them.
- The front shocks also have an adjusted coil spring position on the shock tubes with an extended rebound stroke. The rear shocks, on the other hand, have a larger shock body than what you'd find on a standard Clermont Toyota Tacoma. This larger size means they have a larger oil volume which means things stay cooler and you have a better damping response. (Which translates to you'll be much more comfortable on bumpy roads.) They also have larger pistons and piston rods for more strength, and they include cast-iron spacers.
- The kit comes with a heritage-inspired "TOYOTA" grille as well as a new Toyota Safety Sense millimeter-wave sensor that ensures that the kit works with the TSS system.
The best news yet? It's coming to a dealer near you with all of the necessary hardware for installation, AND it's dealer-installed. It's available for Clermont Toyota Tacomas that are V6 4x4 models and are the model year 2020 or later. The kit costs $1,350 (not including labor) and comes with a 3-year/36,000 mile warranty if you have it installed at the time of purchase. If you install it after the fact, the warranty is 1-year/12,000 miles.
