Your car paint is always under attack from external forces. Think about how many things you drive past and through during your day and how they all affect your paint job. Dust, grime, rocks, debris, so many things. Unfortunately, they're unavoidable and your ride will likely accumulate a bit of damage during its lifetime. Luckily, most things can be repaired and dealt with easily yourself. But, there are some things that can affect your vehicle's paint that you might be unaware of or don't know how to deal with.
Lucky for you, Toyota of Clermont is here with a list of difficult things to remove and how you should go about removing them. Let's dive in!
These Are Difficult to Remove. But Not Impossible
Gasoline
Yes, our cars are powered by the stuff. But did you know that gasoline is not only highly flammable but can easily stain your car paint if left uncleaned? For most drivers, they'll never coat their car in gasoline (unless they're looking to commit arson. You do you), but quite a bit can accidentally spill on the area around your gas cap. Dried gasoline in combination with the intensity of the sunlight can leave stains and deterioration in your clear coat. To fix your Clermont paint before it becomes bad, wash away the gasoline splash with a mild water and soap mixture and a sponge.
Fingerprints
Believe it or not, but touching your car isn't really a good idea. Plus it's kinda weird. Regardless of our stances on touching car paint, one thing's straight facts, leaving fingerprints on paint is a recipe for grime buildup. Not only does it transfer oils, dirt, and other grime from your hands (wash your hands, people) onto the paint, but the prints can act as a conductor for dirt. If you find prints on your ride, wash them away with mild soap and water before they cause too much filth buildup.
Bug Debris and Bird Droppings
If you park your ride outside, these things are simply unavoidable. Parking in the shade is great, but there are likely a few avian friends nesting above that have to go to the bathroom somewhere. And driving invites bugs to perish on your front bumper and windshield (rip). It's always tempting to leave these for another time, but you might find your Clermont car paint damaged when you finally get around to cleaning. Instead, clean those messes as soon as you can with a vinegar and distilled water mixture for the bird droppings and wet dryer sheets for the bug entrails.
Water Staining
I know what you're thinking, how are you supposed to avoid getting water on your ride? Well, first you must accept that water will get on your ride (life lesson right there, fam). It's what you do after that makes the difference (so much life lesson here, fam. Take notes). Water, especially hard water with mineral deposits in it, can leave the worst and most pesky stains on your car paint. To get rid of them, first make sure to always keep your ride dry. This being very difficult to do, you should make sure to clean your ride with a chemical compound and a microfiber towel.
Asphalt, Road Paint, and Cement
The stuff designed to handle everything gets on your ride. Oops. Looks like you're in for the long cleaning haul. While these substances are persistent and difficult to remove from your Clermont car paint, they're not impossible to deal with. Start by using an oil-based cleaner/substance, think Goo-Gone or WD40, and gradually wear away the substance. Don't try to remove it all at once. This could cause a lot of damage. Once it's all but removed, feel the surface to see if there's still residual material. Clean it away carefully to avoid scratching.
