The Essential Guide to Toyota Service

You might be neglecting your Toyota service! We know it’s not on purpose, but life, work and other obligations can make you forget about the basic necessities of car maintenance. We’re “Making it Simple™” at Toyota of Clermont.

1. Get Your Oil Changed

Oil changes are an essential part of Toyota service; this helps you avoid car repairs in the future and can keep that resale value high! Clean oil is what lubricates your engine’s moving parts; if you neglect this service, you can possibly void your warranty and even have engine failure! You’ll want to get an oil change for your Clermont Toyota at least every 3,000 miles or 3 months if you’re using conventional oil. If you opt for synthetic oil, an oil change can occur every 5,000 to 15,000 miles. If you’re unsure which oil you need, take a peek at your owner's manual or give us a call.

2. Check Out the Fluids

You’ll want to pop your hood for this Toyota service; your fluids are important to keep full. If you’re unsure what fluids your car has, our Toyota of Clermont service techs can help you! Here’s a few fluids you’ll need to keep an eye on:

  • Transmission Fluid

  • Power Steering Fluid

  • Air Conditioning Coolant

  • Brake Fluid

  • Washer Fluid

  • Motor Oil

3. Tire Pressure

This type of service can be done at home or by one of our techs! With newer models, your Clermont Toyota is equipped with TPMS, or tire pressure sensor. When this lights up, it’ll appear on your dashboard! You can use a tire gauge to check your tire pressure at home. Having the right amount of tire pressure is important to improve fuel efficiency and keep track of tire wear, even the alignment of your Clermont Toyota.

4. Rotate those Tires

Your tires carry different loads on different cars, so to keep the wear even, you need to rotate those tires. This service is the best way to keep an even wear and tear on your tires and can even help your car drive better. Our Toyota of Clermont service techs recommend having your tires rotated every 5,000 to 8,000 miles. During this appointment, you can also have your tires balanced, and they can even check the alignment of your ride.

5. Car Battery

With newer cars, your battery doesn’t need too much attention, but it’s important to know when it’s time for a replacement or cleaning. You’ll want to check this while you’ve got your eyes on the fluids. By taking a quick glance, you can see corrosion or gunk right on the terminals (these are usually black and red). To clean it, you can use a battery brush or schedule your Toyota service with our techs.

6. Dashboard Warning Lights

Ugh, these are the worst and typically require Toyota service by a professional. Each light means something, and it’s important to know what to do. The warning lights can range from low gas to something more serious. Before you panic, make sure you check the owner’s manual first. Your owner’s manual will tell you what each light means and next steps; if you’re not sure, our Toyota of Clermont service techs can help.

7. Check your Brakes

One of the most important Toyota service appointments you can make is for your brakes. Newer Clermont Toyotas come with built-in sensors that tell you when your brake pads need attention. With older cars, there’s signs you’ll notice, like squeaking or metal grinding. It’s better to get this checked before you start hearing any grinding metal to avoid any future car repairs.

8. Replace those Wipers

Old or worn-out wipers make it harder to see during those Clermont rain showers! It’s important to get ahead of this Toyota service; once you notice streaks after using the wipers, it’s probably time for new ones. You can come on down to our Clermont Toyota service center for a replacement!
