Car Care for When You Get Back from Off-Roading

Driving is often reduced to the mundane routine of commuting from one point to another. But, if you have the right vehicle, there's always more to explore. For many drivers out there, off-roading is a great way to express their sense of adventure and explore from behind the wheel of a trusty vehicle. Toyota is one brand that admires off-roading and has designed many vehicles over the years to make this activity more accessible.

If you're going to get down in the mud with your ride, remember that you'll have quite a mess to clean up when all is said and done. Luckily, Toyota of Clermont is here to help with some essential tips for taking care of your ride post off-roading.

Clermont off-roading cleaning tips

Cleaning Your Clermont Toyota After Off-Roading

1) Wash it Off ASAP

After a long day on the trails the last thing you want to do is clean your car. But, just like rinsing a boat off after being out in the water, you'll need to clean your car after off-roading. Letting mud and other harsh dirt sit for too long will make cleaning your vehicle later all that more difficult. Invest the time now and that way you don't have to worry about cleaning your ride later.

2) Rinse Your Ride with a Pressure Washer

While off-roading with your Clermont Toyota vehicle it's hard to know just what comes in contact with your ride's paint. Because of this it's highly recommended that you rinse your vehicle off with a pressure washer or high pressure hose setting. This will wash away smaller particles like sand that can create circling in your vehicle's paint if a sponge is applied. This can also make washing much easier by removing a large amount of mud and other substances.

3) Use Quality Soap and Sponges

Your vehicle contains gasoline, metal, and fire, but it's actually a pretty delicate beast on the outside. The paint is prone to damage if not washed correctly or with the right set of products. Before getting started on your car wash, make sure you have vehicle grade soap, several buckets for water, and sponges specific for cars.

4) Apply Wax

At Toyota of Clermont we also recommend using wax to keep your vehicle's paint in top shape after a wash. This can protect your vehicle's paint from surface scratches and improve the longevity of your detailing job. Make sure to use a quality wax and apply it thoroughly after off-roading.

5) Wash the Undercarriage

Your undercarriage often goes forgotten when it comes to detailing your ride. Most often times this is fine. In the case of off-roading, your undercarriage is likely going to be filthy and you'll definitely need to clean this area. Hosing off the area should be sufficient. An easier way to do this is to use a rotating sprinkler head and put it under your car.

6) Rinse off Suspension and Brake Parts

Another area of your ride that's likely to have its fair share of dirt and grime after off-roading is your brakes, wheels, and suspension system. Take care to rinse these areas off thoroughly to keep them being damaged by excessive wear and tear.

You should also consider adding air to your Clermont car tires after off-roading to maintain peak fuel efficiency and keep your tires from wearing down abnormally.
