Tools you’ll need before you change your engine oil

  • Engine oil
  • Oil filter
  • Oil filter wrench
  • Socket and wrench set
  • Jack and jack stands
  • Funnel

Step #1 Prepare your Toyota car.

Before you start changing your engine oil, make sure you park on a level surface and pop that hood open!

Step #2 Find the drain plug.

Get under your Toyota car and place your Clermont Toyota engine oil container under the drain plug.

Step #3 Loosen the drain plug.

Take a ratcheting wrench that is the correct size and loosen the drain plug counterclockwise. Don’t remove it completely yet!

Step #4 Drain your Clermont Toyota engine oil.

Go ahead and remove the drain plug and get ready for your old car oil to pour out super fast! Get that fluid container ready to collect all of the old engine oil. The step might take a little bit, so go ahead and get some water!

Step #5 Change the oil filter.

When your Clermont Toyota oil is done draining, it’s time to change the oil filter. Now, it’s time to determine if you have a screw-on or cartridge oil filter. If you have a screw-on filter, then remove the filter by simply twisting it off and applying some oil to the rubber O-ring. If you have a cartridge filter, then remove the cap and just take out the old filter and put the new one in!

Step #6 Reinstall the drain plug.

If you’re lucky, a drain plug will come with your filter. However, it doesn’t then just look it up or call Toyota of Clermont!

Step #7 Put the new Clermont Toyota oil in!

Now, you can find the oil cap and remove it! Place the funnel where the oil cap was and start pouring in some new oil!

Step #8 Check the oil level.

You’re going to want to check the oil level by pulling out the dipstick, wiping it off, and putting it back in. Now, when you pull the dipstick out check the color of the oil and how full it is based on the lines on the dipstick.

Step #9 Put the filler cap on.

Now that your cap is back on, you can start your Toyota car and check for leaks.

Step #10 Clean up time!

Go ahead and recycle any items that you can and throw away the rest!
